By Snejana Farberov For Dailymail. A Nebraska father already imprisoned for having sex with, and later marrying, his adult daughter has been given two more years behind bars. Travis Fieldgrove, 40, was sentenced on Tuesday in Adams County District Court in after pleading no contest to a charge of attempted incest. Prosecutors had reduced the charge from incest in exchange for the father's plea.
He made a similar deal in neighboring Hall County, where he lived, and was sentenced in May to two years in prison, court records say. Travis Fieldgrove, 40, was sentenced on Tuesday to an additional two years in prison after pleading no contest to attempted incest for having sex with his year-old daughter Samantha Kershner and then later marrying her.
She had also originally been charged with incest. Police said the father and daughter both admitted to having a romantic and sexual relationship - even though they knew they were biologically related. Kershner said she competed for her dad's affection with her half-sister. Prosecutors had reduced the charge from incest in return for Fieldgrove's plea.
Kershner was sentenced to nine months of probation after she also took a plead deal. They met for the first time three years ago when Kershner, then aged 17, told her mother she wanted to know who her father was. Kershner and Fieldgrove met and maintained a father-daughter relationship for three years.
The pair would not reveal how their father-daughter relationship turned sexual. According to charging documents, Kershner told police that she had a 'jealous competition' with her half-sister about who could have sex with their father first.
Kershner's mother notified police about their relationship in September. A paternity test that Fieldgrove and Kershner agreed to have in January found that there was a They told police they had sex for the first time in September last year.
