How much does IVF Cost in Ireland?
IVF Ireland Cost
At Merrion Fertility Clinic we are conscious of the high Fertility Treatment and IVF Costs in Ireland. We have tried in recent times to raise awareness about this in Ireland and part of our mission is to advocate for services as part of state provided health care.
As we are a ‘Not for Profit’ organisation we try to keep our costs to a minimum but unfortunately Assisted Reproduction is expensive. Some couples may be eligible for financial assistance through the Merrion Fertility Foundation .
There is also limited amount of cover available to patients with private health insurance cover:
MFC is an approved centre with LAYA Healthcare who offer up to €1,000 twice in a lifetime towards specific infertility treatments (IUI, ICSI and IVF) on some of their plans. We strongly recommend that you contact LAYA to confirm if you are entitled to any cover before commencing treatment at 021 2022000
VHI provide cover for certain surgical procedures provided by our doctors. You can check if you qualify by contacting VHI Member Support on 1890 44 44 44.
VHI also offer benefits towards certain fertility treatments for up to two treatments. This is a Cost sharing scheme that would require a significant financial contribution by Merrion Fertility Clinic. Facilitating this scheme would ultimately result in increased prices across all of our treatments and services. Therefore MFC have not entered a partnership with VHI to cover these fertility treatments.

How much does a blood test for pregnancy cost in singapore
Planning on pregnancy? We know there’s a lot to get your head around, but where maternity medical care is concerned, mums-to-be in Singapore are in luck. Singapore’s healthcare system ranks among the best in the world, and the standard of health care for pregnant mums is definitely well above average. What can be a concern, however, is the high cost of maternity care for expats in Singapore. Obtaining maternity insurance is essential for protection against the high cost of pregnancy care. This article by expat health insurance broker Pacific Prime Singapore lets you in on everything you need to know, from waiting periods to some handy cost comparisons across the top hospitals!
How much does it really cost to have a baby in Singapore?
Besides the cost of giving birth, you’ll also need to consider your prenatal expenses. Every pregnancy is one-of-a-kind, so the number of required tests and consultations will vary for mothers-to-be. Different doctors and specialists will also charge their own prices, so the total prenatal cost will vary per person. That being said, you can expect an overall cost range of $4,000 to about $8,000 for a standard pregnancy without any complications.
Check out the average costs to give birth at Singapore’s major private hospitals.
As you can see from the above costs, you’ll need to pay a fair bit to have a baby without maternity insurance in Singapore. To avoid breaking the bank, having a maternity plan in place is a good idea to offset these costs. But, what exactly is maternity insurance?
What is maternity insurance, and what does it cover?
Every maternity insurance plan is different, so it’s important to familiarise yourself with what exactly is covered in a plan before you purchase it. That being said, most maternity plans in Singapore will cover prenatal expenses (e. g. consultations, ultrasound, blood tests, etc.), normal delivery, and medically necessary C-sections. Beyond that, some plans also cover congenital birth defects and delivery with complications.
What’s a waiting period?
A waiting period is the duration of time that must pass once you’ve secured your maternity insurance plan, before a claim can be made against it. This period of time can be quite lengthy, as it usually lasts about 10 – 12 months. Typically speaking, the shortest waiting period you will find on a maternity insurance plan is 10 months.
With this in mind, it’s important to plan ahead and secure maternity insurance well before you conceive. It’s also best to avoid planning to get pregnant only one month after securing a maternity plan with a waiting period of 10 months, because should a premature birth occur, you could miss out on covering the delivery costs.
What if I’m already pregnant?
With so many maternity insurance plans out there, it can be hard to find the ideal plan for your needs. For help choosing what’s right for you, get in touch with a maternity insurance expert like Pacific Prime Singapore. With years of experience in providing insurance solutions to expats, the team of experts is more than happy to offer impartial advice, as well as a free price quote and plan comparison.

A small but growing number of Canadians have found a new way to take their daily vitamins — through an intravenous drip. Most people who take vitamins to boost their health or stave off diseases usually swallow a combination of pills or tablets containing vitamins B, C or D. But proponents of IV vitamin therapy say getting their vitamin fix through an infusion directly into their bloodstream gives them a higher dose and better results. Matthew George, a busy 30-year-old entrepreneur who frequently travels for his work, goes to a Toronto clinic for his vitamin "pick me up" — a cocktail of vitamins and minerals delivered intravenously. "I started to take them more often and then I kind of got hooked, I guess you could say it that way," he said. The so-called "vitamin drips" have been touted as a way of delivering nutrients to help patients fight diseases, cope with stress or just simply stay healthy. Fans of the therapy claim it can be used as a preventive measure against aging, or to improve performance at sports, or to create a greater sense of well being.
Tim Gallant said he started getting regular infusions to speed the healing of a stubborn burn. "Two days in I started to feel a lot better. My energy levels were up and I started thinking about what was different and it was vitamin IV," Gallant said. The vitamin IV is a trend that started in Asia, spread to California and is now increasingly being offered in Canada. In Vancouver, Tanya Robertson is a convert. She's been going to a local clinic every month for more than three years for her vitamin drip. "The next day in the morning I feel great, I feel a huge amount of energy." IV delivers vitamins faster, experts say Naturopathic practitioners like John Dempster say vitamins in pill form have to be digested, distributing the nutrients and active ingredients through the digestive system. That means not all of them get absorbed by the body. "(Vitamin infusions are) fast. It's direct delivery, it goes directly into the bloodstream and you bypass intestinal absorption."
In medical circles it's called parenteral nutrition — some studies suggest direct doses of some nutrients can help fight some diseases and nutritional deficiencies. But some doctors call this increasingly popular therapy "quackery." Others, like Dr. David Jenkins of the University of Toronto's Department of Nutritional Sciences, see no real benefits from the direct-to-the-bloodstream vitamins. But he also doesn't see the harm in it either. "It's no substitution for a healthy lifestyle," he said. "But if it has some advantage because people sit there and they feel psychologically and spiritually better and then they go out and practice healthier practices, well then who knows? This could have been a useful placebo effect." Dempster said each patient's "cocktail" is mixed according to blood tests that show what vitamins and nutrients their body is lacking. "Infusions can include the usual Vitamin C, D, B6 and B12 … along with other nutrients like Coenzyme Q10, Glutamine and Glutathione."
The cost runs from $30 to $100 dollars per treatment and Dempster says he's seen plenty of anecdotal and clinical evidence that it works. "It's effective, it works well, it is safe and it helps people recover quick compared to regular vitamin therapy." His clinic has treated patients with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and other diseases where fatigue becomes pervasive. Justin Lafreniere, a naturopathic doctor practicing in Vancouver, would like to see more mainstream medical research looking at the benefits of intravenous vitamin therapy. "From a clinical point of view I do see an improvement in some patients, but not all," he said. "Definitely I would love to see more research on it." With a report by CTV medical specialist Avis FavaroWe also offer a variety of tests that can check for other vitamin, mineral and antioxidant deficiencies. *Price may vary by location – contact your local ANY LAB TEST NOW Test results generally take between 24 to 72 business hours after your specimen is collected.
Vitamin B-12, also called cobalamin, is a water soluble vitamin that plays a key role in the formation of blood (red blood cells and white blood cells), normal functioning of the brain and nervous system. Vitamin B-12 is one of the eight B vitamins, and it is involved in the metabolism of every cell in the human body. Vitamin B-12 functions as a cofactor for methionine synthesis and L-methylmalonyl-CoA mutase. Vitamin B-12 is bound to protein in food, commonly found in fish, shellfish, meat, eggs and dairy products. The Vitamin B-12 is then released in the stomach by hydrochloric acid during digestion. Vitamin B-12 is then coupled with a component in the stomach called intrinsic factors (IF) before it is released and absorbed into the bloodstream at within the small intestine. The benefits of knowing your Vitamin B-12 levels are vital since they play a major role in the formation of blood cells and functioning of the brain and nervous system. Vitamin B-12 deficiency may be due to multiple causes such as dietary deficiency, pernicious anemia, post-surgical malabsorption, and atrophic gastritis, a condition that affects 10 – 30% of the elderly population.
